Environmental disputes

Our experience providing expert services in environment disputes includes testimony in a real estate development case in the Dominican Republic, expert consulting on a bi-national dispute between Ecuador and Colombia regarding aerial herbicide spraying, and assessment of environmental damages and restoration scaling in the Fundâo dam disaster in Minas Gerais State, Brazil. We have also served as consulting experts for issues related to potential water quality impacts from a copper mine in Zambia and a coal mine in Colombia; and oil spill response, remediation, and restoration in the Amazon of Ecuador and Perú. In the United States, our natural resource damages experience began with the Anaconda mine complex in Butte, Montana in the early 1980s and includes the following matters: Macondo oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico; St. Louis River, MN; Saginaw River and Bay, MI; White River, IN; Ottawa and Ashtabula Rivers, OH; Lake Hartwell SC; Bedford, IN; St. Lawrence River, NY and others.


Environmental Due Diligence

Our experience providing expert services in environmental due diligence includes environmental impact assessment, assisting Equator Principle Financial Institutions (EPFIs) and multilateral development banks for project auditing, and technical support to project developers in their buildout of Environmental and Social Management Systems (ESMS) to meet lender standards. Our experience has included managing a multi-million dollar Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for a hydro project in Guyana and focused biodiversity assessments in Mongolia and Kenya. Our bilingual staff have extensive experience working in Latin America including projects in the extractive, transportation, and energy sectors in Mexico, Panama, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Guyana, Ecuador, Peru, Guatemala, Bolivia, Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina.
